A Day Out With My Girl

web1Last week, my girl and I had a whole day to ourselves so we braved the cold and headed out for a day on the town. She didn’t seem to mind the snow at all and the fresh air, sunshine, and blue skies did provide a little bit of therapy.

web2She just had to wear her pink boots (although they’re two sizes too big right now).

web3When I told her we were going for pizza, she was soo so excited. Pizza seems to be her favorite food and we go once and a great while as a treat (pizza is my favorite too).

web5web6web7web8web9web11Can we talk about this light in the pizzeria?!

web12web13web14So, you think that I took enough pictures?

Once we had a bite to eat (and I’ll have you know that little miss RDP ate her WHOLE piece of pizza minus the crust) we walked next door to where I work to say hi to the girls. Rhilyn got a cookie and sat at my desk and colored my desk calendar 🙂 She’s such a peach…

These moments are so fleeting and although some people may not understand why I take pictures of EVERYTHING -even ordinary things and events- someday years from now I am going to be thankful that I took so many pictures of our day to day life, because they will be there to bring me back to that day, that memory with more clarity than without a photograph.

Thanks for reading!

Beautiful Family Fall Session

web1Funny story about this session….

web2This is my sister-in-law. Once upon a time we had talked about doing a family portrait as a Christmas gift for her mother, my mother-in-law. She wanted her and her two brothers (one of them my husband) and their families to get together but her oldest brother couldn’t make it up (he lives down south and is in the military).

web3So, some time went by and she texted one day asking about a photo session. I of course said “of course!” and we agreed to meet at a local park. Well, I was silly and had kind of forgotten about the whole family portrait and I showed up under-dressed, my daughter was wearing a teal and purple jacket with red goloshes, and my hubby (her bro) was working.

web4She probably thought I was looney and she did ask where Josh was but I just sort of dismissed it and said he was working, not realizing that he was supposed to be here, that I was supposed to be dressed nicer, and Rhilyn too. Oops.

web5She didn’t say anything, and we proceeded with the session (it was a very quick session as it was a bit chilly out) and finally toward the end I don’t know how it got brought up but she told me she thought this was supposed to be the “family shoot.” I felt like an idiot.

web6At this point everyone was pretty chilled and we snapped a few more photos and called it good. I explained I would gather the hubs and Rhi around, come back to the park on a similarly lit day and take some photos with my camera on a tripod so I could “photoshop us in” to one of the photos.

web8To this day, I don’t think my mother-in-law even knew that the framed photo we gave her for Christmas was photoshopped! (Well, she will now)…

web7But at least we got some amazing shots of this little family for them.

web11Baby Anika had to take a snack break…

web9…so Sam took a swing break.

web13This picture is perfect!!! His face kills me.

web14Daddy & Ani.

web15That’s all folks! Hope you enjoyed 🙂

Nathan | {Class of 2015}

03-webWow I failed miserably, promising to post this guy’s photos the night after I posted Justine’s senior photos! This is my cousin, Nathan. When he was just a toddler, his mom babysat for my sister and I for a couple summers. I could tell some stories… but I won’t :).

On the evening of his session it was pretty overcast out. I typically like to shoot with beautiful sunlight but I really think the clouds served as a giant soft box for Nathan’s photos and gave them a nice feel to them. I was happy to capture this young man for him and his family, after all you’re only a senior once!

15-webSometimes direct light can be flattering. Thankfully the sky filled with clouds allowed me to face him in the direction of the sun and get this shot of the tree framing him in!

23-webLove the colors!

36-webPossibly this photo ^ is my favorite from the whole session (hence why I have three photos of the same location here). But……

57-webThis one could be my favorite too! It’s a tie! And I know this one was one of Nathan’s favorites too.

70-webAnd I had to throw just one in here from the second half of his session at the dance studio. So this is a fav too! I can’t help it!

Thanks for looking, as always! I hope you loved your photos as much as I loved creating them for you, Nathan!
