Phillips Family {Sept. 2016}

blog01

Tricia had been wanting some photographs done for a long time. She had seen some of my photos that I shared of Angela and contacted me about doing a session with her family and their trio of golden retrievers. (Networking and word of mouth is the bomb. It’s how I book 99% of my sessions)! Everyone was so fantastic and easy to work with, and the three pups Bailey, Gretchen & Hunter were superstars. Everyone meet the Phillips family!

Summer Fun at the Farm [personal post]

blog01

September was so busy for me but it treated us so well. The weather was fantastic pretty much all month long and we spent a lot of time at my parents’ little farm, one of my favorite places on earth. It’s been in the family for some time now, first my Uncle, then my Grandfather bought it, and then when both grandparents passed away my Mom bought her two brothers’ share and she lives there now. It’s a little slice of serenity and I feel blessed to be able to spend time there. So here are a few photos of just another day at the farm. Above is “Teddy,” one of my mom’s kitty cats.

After a refreshing splash in the sprinkler it was time to dry off and have a little lunch at the picnic table.

A perfect facebook ‘garage sale’ find!

This was the mum my mom bought this year. It didn’t have one single bud open on it just yet so I choose to make it B&W. I kinda like how it turned out.

blog09

She really is so good to me for the amount of photos I ask to take. But there is a trade off………………………………….

blog10

If she was good for a few photos…………

blog12

She could make as many silly faces as she wanted!

Time to head across the road, down the right-a-way, which is an old railroad bed. A part of my mom’s house was the Wheeler train station of the Kanona-Prattsburgh Railroad. There’s a small building at the end of her driveway which was the ticket office, and across the road is a beautiful long pathway where the railroad used to lay and it’s so perfect for afternoon adventures.

blog18

We headed all the way down to the end of the property where there’s easy access to the creek. We made Grandpa come with us so he could help us catch some crayfish.

He caught one! This is just a still from video I took of his big catch 😉

blog15

Everytime we walk down the right-a-way we are reminded of my Grandpa, my mom’s father and Rhilyn’s middle name sake. Rhilyn Dale.

I handed my camera over to my Mom and I’m extremely thankful she’s willing to snap a few for me since I rarely have any with me in it.

You know, just hanging around! These giant vines are so cool!

And, it’s not very often that she doesn’t find a souvenir to bring back with her. This time? A tree branch.

Madelynn [9 month portraits and mini lifestyle] Sept. 2016

blog01

Time to blog my niece’s 9 month session! My sister had myself and our mom over for dinner one night this past September and also did MJ’s 9 month photos. I also grabbed some family shots and some “lifestyle” pictures during dinner. It was a great evening.

blog02

Another blah overcast day but we made the best of it. We started outside in their little backyard at their apartment.

Maddie is usually full of smiles but she was feeling a little off this day. Most of the time I just got these serious faces. Haha.

We did get a couple small smiles though. She loves airplane!

blog09

This was my favorite area with the tall grass, wildflowers and goldenrod. Made for a pretty backdrop!

We grabbed the rest of the fam for some shots!

And this sweet little guy out shined everyone on this day! He is non-verbal autistic and like most has trouble with eye contact. But this session he was the most interactive he has ever been for photos, and with me period. I was super proud of Jackson this day!

Rhilyn and Jackson, so stinking adorable. P.S. Jackson is as tall as Rhilyn and he’s 1.5 yrs younger.

Everybody was getting cranky and hungry so we headed in for dinner. One of the favorite things I did with my daughter when she was a baby, was take lifestyle photos of her doing her own thing. I took the chance to grab some lifestyle shots of the kids enjoying dinner time.
